Digital İntraoral Impression
Digital intraoral impression is the creation of a high-resolution three-dimensional digital model of the teeth, gums and bite relationship using a handheld scanner without the use of traditional impression materials and trays. Nausea, waiting time and loss of precision due to shrinkage of expansion in the impression material, which can be caused by traditional impressions, are reduced by digital scanning. Images obtained from the scanner are instantly combined by software to create a real-time model; missing or faulty areas can be re-scanned wihtout being sen to the laboratory. Digital impressions can be used in crown, bridges, laminate veneers, aligners and implant-supported restorations and can be transmitted electronically to the laboratory. Digital models are stored permanently, allowing changes such as tooth wear and gum recession to be compared over time. It provides comfort, especially for patients with a strong gag reflix, children and individuals with narrow mouth openings.
