Dental Fillings
A dental filling is the restoration of tooth tissue lost due to decay, fracture, or wear using a suitable filling material in order to restore the tooth’s natural function and structural integrity. Treatment begins with the removal of damaged tissue while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. Local anesthesia may be administered depending on the depth of the decay. Composite resin is widely used today; in some cases, amalgam, glass ionomer, or ceramic materials may be preferred. The filling is placed according to the tooth’s anatomical shape, hardened, and polished. The procedure is generally completed in a single session. In addition to treating cavities, fillings can also be used for fractures, wear, small gaps between teeth, and certain aesthetic corrections. Regular check-ups and oral care help support the longevity of the filling and the success of the treatment.

Aesthetic (Composite) Filling
An aesthetic composite filling is a restoration made using a tooth-colored, resin-based material that provides results closely resembling the appearance of natural teeth. Composite is applied in different shades and layers to imitate natural color transitions, opacity, and light transmission. In addition to replacing decayed areas or old fillings, it can be used to repair chipped tooth edges, close gaps between teeth, and correct irregular tooth edges. The tooth surface is prepared and a bonding agent is applied; the composite is then placed in layers, hardened with light, and finally shaped and polished. Its key advantages include being completed in a single session, generally without requiring tooth reduction, preserving tooth structure with minimal tissue loss, and providing quick results. With regular care and polishing, its appearance can be maintained for a long time.
